Man accuses doctor of k!lling his wife by refusing to transfuse blood on religious grounds

A Port Harcourt-based man, Chris Adams, has taken to Facebook to mourn the death of his wife, Victoria Paris, who reportedly passed away post-natal after a doctor allegedly refused to administer a blood transfusion on account of religious beliefs.
The husband said the doctor told them her hospital did not do blood transfusions because it negated her faith as a Jehovah’s Witness.
According to Adams, his seven-month-pregnant wife developed abdominal pains and was rushed to Standard Maternity Clinic in the Borokiri Church Hill area of Port Harcourt—a facility that had previously handled the births of their other children.
He explained that although the Caesarean section was successfully performed, Victoria lost a significant amount of blood and required an urgent transfusion.
The attending doctor allegedly refused to carry out the transfusion, stating it went against her faith.
Adams also criticised the clinic’s operating conditions, claiming the power supply failed during the procedure and staff had to scramble to start a generator mid-operation.
He accused the hospital of misleading the family into signing consent forms and blamed the doctor’s religious stance for his wife’s death.
In an emotional Facebook post, Adams wrote, “The doctor ran an operation on her, which was successful, but my beloved lost a lot of blood… But the doctor said she doesn’t do that in her hospital because she is a religious person (Jehovah’s Witness). My beloved was killed by the doctor’s religious belief.”
He concluded by calling for justice, insisting that the medical decision rooted in religion cost his wife her life.
