Residents of Abeokuta, Ogun State, were left in shock after the lifeless body of a yet-to-be-identified young woman was discovered in a drainage along OGTV Road in the Ajebo area.
The victim’s private part had been gruesomely removed, raising fears of a ritual-related killing.
According to reports, the body was found early Tuesday, May 6, 2025, prompting locals to alert the police.
A source told the Punch that although the circumstances surrounding how the corpse got there remain unclear, it was evident upon closer inspection that her body had been mutilated.
“A young woman was found dead in a gutter. Her private part was missing, suggesting she might have been used for ritual purposes. Police later transported her body to the State Hospital Morgue in Ijaiye,” the source said.
A senior security officer in the area revealed that the victim was believed to be a commercial sex worker.
Her colleagues told authorities that she was last seen being picked up by a man from their usual spot in the Oke-Ilewo area.
Her body, which bore machete wounds to the neck and arms, was later discovered with her private part removed.
“The lady was a known sex worker. Her friends said a man picked her up the night before from Iwe-Iroyin, Oke-Ilewo. She was later found with deep cuts and her private part severed,” the officer confirmed.
