Popular online personality Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
His release was confirmed through a video currently circulating online, which shows VDM walking out of EFCC custody alongside his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.
This comes just days after the EFCC announced that VDM would regain his freedom once he met his bail conditions.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale previously told BBC News Pidgin that the activist was detained in connection with multiple petitions filed against him and that the matter would proceed to court.
“He was invited to respond to a number of allegations raised in petitions,” Oyewale said.
VDM was arrested in Abuja by EFCC officials, sparking widespread criticism online, with many accusing the commission of targeting vocal government critics.
