Security operatives in Kano State have arrested a newlywed bride, identified as Saudat, for allegedly fatally stabbing her husband, Salisu, just nine days after their wedding.

The tragic incident occurred in the Farawa community of Kano on Monday night, following their marriage ceremony on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

Reports indicate that the marriage was arranged by the couple’s relatives and lacked mutual affection.

Salisu had reportedly expressed reservations about the union but was persuaded by family members to proceed.

While the exact circumstances leading to the fatal altercation remain unclear, community members allege that Saudat may have poisoned her husband before stabbing him during an argument.

The incident sparked outrage in the community, with angry youths attempting to lynch the suspect.

However, prompt intervention by security operatives prevented mob action, and Saudat was taken into custody.

As of now, the Kano State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
