The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 21-year-old woman, identified as Precious Anegbode, for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, Damilola, to death during a visit to his residence in the Ijegun area of Lagos.
According to reports, the incident occurred after an intense argument broke out between the couple, which soon escalated into a violent altercation.
A resident, who spoke to Punch on the condition of anonymity, said neighbours overheard a heated exchange between the duo, followed by Anegbode’s loud wailing.
Upon rushing to the scene, they reportedly discovered Damilola’s lifeless body on the floor.
“We don’t know what caused the fight. We just heard them shouting, and shortly after, the lady started crying. When we got to their room, her boyfriend was lying on the ground, unresponsive,” the source recounted.
Another resident said that some neighbours rushed the victim to the hospital while others restrained the suspect from fleeing.
At the hospital, Damilola was pronounced dead by medical personnel. The incident was subsequently reported to the police.
State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest and revealed that the case was initially handled by the Igando Division before being transferred to the Isheri Oshun Division for jurisdictional reasons.
“The victim was confirmed dead on arrival at Igando General Hospital. Officers responded promptly, arrested the suspect, and secured the scene. The knife used in the attack was recovered, and blood evidence was documented,” Hundeyin said.
He added that Anegbode had given a confessional statement under caution. The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
