Davido describes resemblance between late son Ifeanyi and newborn as ‘scary’

Renowned Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has described the striking resemblance between his late son, Ifeanyi, and his newborn son as “scary.”
Davido tragically lost his first son, Ifeanyi, in a drowning incident at his Banana Island residence on November 1, 2022.
Months later, he revealed he had privately married his longtime partner, Chioma.
Nearly a year after the heartbreaking loss, the couple welcomed a set of twins—a boy and a girl—in October 2023.
They went on to have a grand wedding ceremony in June 2024.
In a recent interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, Davido shared his emotional response to seeing how much his newborn son resembles Ifeanyi.
“The boy looks just like my son who passed. It’s scary. It’s literally him. We keep saying, ‘It’s him. He came back,’” he said.
Reflecting on how the loss affected him, the Unavailable singer admitted, “That kind of loss makes you want to disappear. I just wanted to step back, focus on my wife, care for my family, and get my mind right. Coming back from that and being blessed with twins—a boy and a girl—was incredible.”
He went on to explain how the tragedy reshaped his outlook on life. The experience, he said, now allows him to inspire others facing similar hardships. He also credited his marriage to Chioma and the success of his 2023 album Timeless as proof of God’s grace in his life.
Speaking further in the interview, Davido reflected on his musical journey, noting his satisfaction at seeing his dreams become reality after watching others succeed before him.
Asked about his frequent collaborator, American pop star Chris Brown, Davido revealed that they’ve recorded around 20 songs together. On the possibility of a joint album, he said, “We could drop two albums right now. It’s definitely going to happen. I’m happy for Chris—he’s back in his groove and celebrating 20 years in the game. I was supposed to join him on the tour.”
Davido also confirmed his venture into film, stating, “I’m an executive producer on a movie and a series with my director, Dammy Twitch. We’re also working on my documentary.”
