A US-based Nigerian activist, Dr. Sandra Duru, who was an ally of the suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan before they fell apart, has lived up to her promise of holding a live session to expose her interaction with the suspended senator.
Duru, who is known as Prof Mgbeke on Facebook, held a live session on Thursday evening where she narrated how she came into contact with Senator Natasha and how she fell out with her.
She also made some serious allegations, one of which was that Senator Natasha told her she paid a prominent, highly regarded public figure (name withheld) some money to be involved in her s*xual harassment campaign against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Duru further alleged that Senator Natasha boasted that she mobilised people with the sole aim of ensuring that the sitting of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges, called to hear her evidence against Akpabio was truncated and laughed about it in a conversation with her after this was executed.
She played a recording where a voice she claimed was Natasha’s could be heard laughing heartily after asserting that the called meeting was frustrated by her emissaries.
Narrating how she met Natasha, Duru said she was introduced to her by a top political figure in Nigeria who wanted her to help the Senator fight off ‘an injustice’.
Duru said that as an activist, she was already invested in the case and had written lots of anti-Akpabio posts on her Facebook wall after she saw Natasha crying about being targeted and persecuted for turning down a s*xual advance from Akpabio.
According to her, Natasha thereafter called her and they had a lengthy discussion where Natasha thanked her profusely for her support and highlighted the areas where she would need her further assistance.
Prof Mgbeke said the Senator told her the s*xual harassment campaign was losing momentum and would like her to drop another bombshell that would give the campaign more momentum.
She said Natasha asked her to write to select international bodies and allege that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, was involved in the murder of a young lady in Akwa Ibom in 2021.
She claimed that the senator asked her to accuse the senate president of orchestrating the harvesting of the kidney of the murdered lady for the benefit of his sick wife at the time.
The activist said she asked for some evidence, and the senator promised to revert, but never did.
She accused the senator of promising to give her N200 million if she supported her in her fight against the Senate President.
Prof Mgbeke also shows her phone screen, scrolling through to show her calls and conversations with Senator Natasha.
She showed some information the senator shared with her, and how she deleted it after she told her she could not continue to support her.
Narrating how they fell apart, she said she pointedly asked the Senator for the nature of the proof she had against Akpabio and the Senator allegedly said: “Babe there is none o!” and laughed heartily, claiming that it was a high stake game which was aimed at creating trouble to displace Akpabio who is a henchman of the sitting president.
Prof Mgbeke said she was scandalised because at this time she had already written petitions to some international bodies at the behest of Natasha.
The activist said she headed a body that had worked with the United Nations for many years, and she was afraid that her credibility was at stake, and as such, could not be involved in falsehood.
She said she tried to convince Natasha to change her mind and make peace with her adversaries, especially as there was no evidence.
She said the senator rebuffed her, leading her to turn against her. She said she wrote to all the organisations she had initially written to, announcing to them that there was no evidence and that she had involved state security agencies to formally investigate all allegations made.
