Eight suspects arrested in Ghana and Nigeria

In a coordinated operation, the Ghana Police Service, the National Signals Bureau (NSB), and the Nigeria Police Force have successfully rescued two women who were kidnapped and seen in a disturbing viral video that sparked nationwide outrage.
The video, which was widely circulated on social media, showed one of the victims being violently assaulted with a machete while naked. The shocking footage triggered intense public concern and prompted swift action from law enforcement agencies in both countries.
According to a statement issued by the Ghana Police on Thursday, eight suspects have been arrested across multiple locations in Ghana and Nigeria in connection with the kidnapping.
Among those arrested is Okoribe Olohitare Ejeme, a key suspect and a female staff member of the Aviation Security (AVSEC) unit at Port Harcourt International Airport. Her arrest was part of a joint effort between Ghana’s NSB and the Nigerian Police Force.
The statement read: “The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the National Signals Bureau (NSB) and the Nigeria Police Force, has rescued the two female victims of kidnapping captured on video, which went viral. Eight suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the crime from their hideouts in Ghana and Nigeria.”
Police authorities also noted that further details on the rescue operation will be shared as investigations progress.
The security agencies have been commended for their collaborative response, with the Ghana Police expressing deep appreciation to their Nigerian counterparts.
“The Ghana Police Service is immensely grateful to the NSB and the Nigeria Police Force for the collaboration and support in the rescue and arrest operations,” the statement added.
One of the victims, identified as 39-year-old Ama Serwaa Konadu, a popular hairdresser and event decorator from Asiakwa in the Abuakwa South Municipality of Ghana’s Eastern Region, was reportedly abducted on April 22, 2025, while on her way to work.
