Nigerian journalist and activist Agba Jalingo has publicly condemned a woman, Amber Ndifon, for allegedly assaulting her pregnant daughter-in-law, Dooshima, in Calabar.

In a viral video circulating on social media, Dooshima recounted the incident in tears, claiming that her husband stood by as his mother physically attacked her.

Jalingo, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, alleged that Dooshima lost the pregnancy due to the assault and has since been thrown out of the house.

He further revealed that the victim is now dealing with health complications caused by the violence and stress she endured.

Calling out Mrs. Ndifon, Jalingo described her as “a disgrace to sisterhood” and identified her as the Education Secretary in Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State.

“This is Amber Ndifon, a disgrace to their sisterhood, who beat her daughter-in-law until she lost her pregnancy. She is the Education Secretary in Etung LGA. Let us shame some beasts,” he wrote.

He also criticised Ndifon’s son, Ndim Ejor Ndifon, labelling him “a disgrace to the brotherhood” for failing to protect his wife.

“This is Ndim Ejor Ndifon, looking like a decent person. He is a disgrace to the brotherhood. He stood there and allowed his mother to beat up his pregnant wife until she lost the pregnancy. The wife also said he has been physically abusive throughout their 7-year marriage,” Jalingo added.

Jalingo appealed to Cross River State’s Commissioner for Education, Dr. Stephen Odey, to take action against Mrs. Ndifon, stressing the seriousness of the allegations.

“For whatever reason, she left her official duties and travelled to Calabar, where her son lives, only to unleash violence on her daughter-in-law. She then returned to Etung to resume work and continue earning public funds,” he wrote.

He also noted that the Cross River State Commissioner for Health and the State CID have been informed, assuring that legal consequences will follow.

“Ndim, you and your mother will answer for this. Violence is a crime, and I hope you know that,” Jalingo warned.
