‘Leave my daddy alone’, Child cries as violence erupts allegedly after church wedding
A chaotic scene unfolded shortly after a church wedding in Nigeria, as some individuals, believed to be members of the families of the bride and groom, engaged in a free-for-all fight caught on camera.
A video of the incident, which has since gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), shows people scrambling, shouting, and grappling in an open field outside the church, set up with canopies.
A large wedding banner showing the couple in a lovey-dovey pose hangs on the wall by the entrance of the church.
According to @ChuksEricE, who posted the video, the altercation broke out moments after the newlyweds exchanged vows at their church.
The couple is not present at the time of the violent clash.
A man in a T-shirt and shorts is seen violently assaulting a lady with long braids. He hits her repeatedly on the head as she backs away while fending him off.
Then, as the man flees, the attacked lady runs after him and appears to hit him on the head with a hard object, drawing gasps of shock from some onlookers.
Bystanders grab the man as he wipes off blood from his eyes and mouth.
Elsewhere, a lady grabs a well-dressed man, shaking him violently as his child repeatedly shouts: “Leave my daddy alone”.
There was complete bedlam, with guests running after each other. More bystanders stepped in to calm the chaotic situation down.
