A 30-year-old man identified as Mr. Stephen has reportedly died by suicide just a month after the passing of his second wife in Ikumi Shako Ward, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to local residents, Stephen had been battling intense depression since his wife’s death in March 2025.
Family members and close friends disclosed that he often spoke about how he couldn’t imagine living without her.
On Thursday morning, neighbours noticed Stephen holding a hunting rifle but were unaware of his intentions.
His body was later discovered in a secluded spot with a gunshot wound to the head, the weapon still in his hand.
Sources also confirmed that Stephen’s first wife is still alive, and he is survived by two children.
