Billionaire businessman Obi Cubana has responded after facing online criticism for allegedly dismissing his supposed adopted son’s claim of being his next-of-kin.

The controversy began when the young man, said to be Cubana’s adopted child, humorously declared himself Obi’s next-of-kin in a TikTok video.

Moments later, Obi Cubana also took to Instagram to showcase a photo of himself with his biological first son and added the caption ‘next of kin’.

He added a laughter emoji to the post, but many people pointed out that it was a direct response to his adopted son’s post.

Some netizens accused him of being insensitive and putting his adopted son down pointlessly. One of the critics, socialite RadioGad, said the adopted son was only cruising (joking) on social media.

He claimed that Obi had succeeded in making the young man ‘feel less of himself’

The nightlife mogul has now clarified his stance in a new post on Instagram.

In the lighthearted post, he shared a photo of all his children and playfully wrote:

“We vibe, we bond, we cruise, they talk!

Las las, all of us na next-of-kins!

Ngwanu, anyi apuo! 💃🏾🤣

@jernald_couture_: “Obi Cubana’s got more than enough wealth to go round. Next of kin or next of Kingsley, everybody benefits in the end.”

@veevogee: “Oya, owner of property don talk say everybody na next of kin. Can we all move on now?”

@adichie_jrn: “Adopted or not, what if Alex is older than him!??”

@iamc.assy: “This is exactly what he should’ve done yesterday instead of being biased. Oke mkpi.”

@prettymikeoflagos: “Ceo, you only did a 50th birthday o, we’re still going to do 100th. Let all next of kin relax first 😂”

@rufustuoyo26: “Damage control.”

Cubana’s post appears to have eased tensions, reinforcing a sense of unity and love within his family.
