“Leave and Live” – Activist Gwamnishu tells women in violent marriages after his colleague, Mrs Shimite, d!ed

Human rights advocate and Senior Special Assistant on Civil Society and Youth Mobilisation to the Delta State Governor, Harrison Gwamnishu, has urged individuals in abusive relationships to walk away in order to preserve their lives.

Gwamnishu made the statement in response to disturbing allegations surrounding the death of Shimite Bello Love, the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export.

Shimite reportedly died in the early hours of Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Asaba, where she was taken for emergency treatment.

According to reports, her housemaid raised an alarm after Shimite had allegedly been locked inside the house all day by her husband.

The maid contacted Shimite’s elder brother, who rushed to the residence and discovered her unresponsive, with foam coming out of her mouth.

She was immediately taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Commenting on the incident, Gwamnishu wrote:

“Information coming in is alleging that Pastor Favour Love is behind his wife’s death and is currently in police custody. Family members claim she endured a troubled marriage. #LeaveAndLive. Rest in peace, Shimite.”
