A British woman known as Mama Yara Naija, who recently tied the knot with a younger Nigerian man, has fired back at critics accusing her of being too old and claiming she is already in menopause.

In a Facebook post shared on Monday, April 21, she addressed the age-shaming and allegations that her husband married her solely for immigration benefits.

Defending her relationship, she wrote:

“You say I’m old – well, actually, I’m very much in my prime. You say I’m rejected – well, since I was 15, I’ve only been single for eight months after my divorce. Then I met Chief. So who exactly is being rejected?”

She also pushed back on stereotypes surrounding interracial marriages:

“Many of you assume that African men only marry white women for papers. While that might be true in some cases, it’s not the reality for all of us. My husband and I are building a real life together—growing our family and uniting those we love.”

Addressing the criticisms about her age and fertility, she added:

“I may not be in my twenties, but I’m still happy, loved, and very much fertile. Menopause hasn’t reached me yet—and it won’t be anytime soon.”

She ended her message with a note of appreciation and grace:

“Thank you to those who support us. I don’t usually respond to negativity, but sometimes it’s necessary to speak up and set the record straight. Peace and love.”
