A Ghanaian man has raised alarm over a new s*xtortion trend being carried out by some gangs consisting of both women and men.

The man who took to a men-only Facebook forum to raise the alarm said the women would strip n@ked to video call married men and then take a screenshot the moment the man picks up the call.

They will subsequently use the screenshots to blackmail the man into paying some money, or the screenshot or video recording of the conversation will be sent to his wife and other contacts and posted online.

The targets are married and respectable men who would not want a scandal associated with them.

According to him, what they are after is for the man to pick the calls, after which they would try to lure him into having salacious conversations, which they record for blackmail purposes.

Even for men who cut the call after realising that the person at the other end is completely n@ked, they can still be blackmailed because their faces would have already shown on the call and the women can tell any story about the man and use the snapshot as proof they had a relationship with the man.

He claimed he was a victim and was extorted 400 cedis (about N40,000) before he called their bluff when they asked for more.

He posted the picture and the number of the lady who contacted him on social media and asked for a hook-up.

He claimed he turned the offer down but promised to pass on her contact information to a friend who was visiting Ghana in a few weeks and might need her services.

He said the lady then asked for his number so she could check with him in a few weeks if the person had arrived.

He said he gave her the number, and the lady called immediately, and they spoke.

According to the man, the next call was a video call and he picked it only to realise the lady was completely nud3.

He said he did not cut the call, but still told her he was not interested in a hook-up but would pass her contact to someone who might be.

The next call he received from the same number was from a man who told him that they were prepared to spoil his image online if he did not pay some money to them.

He said they told him they were in possession of the video chat and also had screenshots.

He said he realised he had messed up by not cutting off the lady the moment he picked her call and saw her n@ked. On the basis of this, he negotiated with them and they agreed on 400 cedis, which he considered paltry and transferred it to them.

He said two weeks later, the gang called him for more, and at that stage, he realised there would be no end to it if he did not call their bluff. He said he called their bluff and they have since been harassing him.

He warned men on the forum to watch out for the woman and any other who might reach out to them with hook-up offers.
