A tragic incident has rocked Okitipupa, Ondo State, as Prince Ogo Omoge, grandson of the late legendary musician Comfort Omoge, was fatally attacked by a scavenger.
The heartbreaking event unfolded along the Ayeka/Igodan-Igbokoda expressway during a heated altercation between the deceased and the suspect.
Witnesses say the disagreement, sparked by an undisclosed issue, quickly turned violent.
The suspect reportedly pulled out a dagger and slashed Omoge’s throat.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, the young man was pronounced d3ad on arrival.
Reacting to the tragedy, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Andrew Ogunsakin, confirmed the arrest of a suspect identified as Machido Abubakar.
He praised the swift efforts of security personnel and assured the bereaved family of the government’s support in ensuring justice is served.
Ogunsakin also met with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organizations, and members of the Hausa/Fulani community in a bid to foster peace and prevent further unrest.
State Police PRO Ayanlade Olayinka confirmed the incident and arrest, adding that the suspect will remain in custody as investigations continue.
The public has been urged to remain calm while authorities carry out a thorough probe.
