The man who collapsed and d!ed in a viral video at the 60th birthday of his wife has been identified as Mr. A.O. Akinyele, an Egbeda, Lagos-based hotelier.
Microsecondnews had reported earlier that the man was dancing at his wife’s 60th birthday thanksgiving when he slumped and passed away.
More information emerging has indicated that the incident happened on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
Mr. Akinyele was dancing joyously to a rendition of a popular Christian hymn being played by what appeared to be church choristers when the sad incident happened and he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed de@d.
A report indicated that the wealthy hotelier had earlier held a lavish party for his wife, the highlight of which was the presentation of a brand-new Toyota Highlander to her.
Everything was going on smoothly with the celebrant, her husband, children and other family members dancing on what appeared to be a church altar.
The video shows Mr Akinyele suddenly grabbing the hand of his wife and whispering something into her ear.
He gestured to her with his right hand to suggest a glass of water. As the wife turned away to implement his directive, he put the microphone down and held on to the top of the podium to steady himself.
In a second, he fell backwards and was caught by the people behind him.
The de@th of the hotelier turned the joyous occasion into instant mourning among family, friends and guests.
He was said to be a warm and friendly person. May his soul rest in peace.
