“She was too perfect for me” – Ugandan preacher announces separation from wife

Ugandan preacher Jonathan Nalebo has sparked reactions online after revealing that he and his wife, Enid Mirembe, have separated—citing her “perfection” as one of the reasons for the split.
The couple, who had been together for seven years and were often admired for their seemingly ideal and faith-driven relationship, have now gone their separate ways.
Nalebo made the announcement in a heartfelt Facebook post on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, stating that the decision was mutual and aimed at fostering peace and healing for both parties.
In his words, Nalebo admitted to falling short of honouring the values Enid carried with grace.
“Enid Mirembe is an incredible woman. In many ways, she was too perfect for me to keep up with, and I mishandled the treasure she was,” he wrote. “I failed to fully honour the values she carried so gracefully in every area of life.”
He also reflected on his shortcomings as a spiritual leader and acknowledged how easily families can be torn apart when vigilance in prayer and love wanes.
“As a servant of God, I know I am called to lead by example—but I have fallen short,” he said. “The enemy often targets what we hold dearest—family being one of them.”
Nalebo assured the public that their children are safe and will remain in their mother’s custody, expressing full confidence in her ability to raise them with strength and wisdom.
He concluded his statement by expressing hope that Enid finds someone who will cherish her in ways he couldn’t and shared his personal commitment to spiritual growth and healing.
“If love ever comes again,” he wrote, “I hope it finds me healed, whole, and more anchored in Christ.”
He closed with a verse from Psalm 34:18: *“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”*
