
A 32-year-old man, identified as Andrew Chukwuka Nwosu, has reportedly taken his own life along the Olokoro-Umudike Road in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.
The tragic incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, April 17, 2025, when Nwosu, a native of Itaja Obuohia Olokoro in Umuahia South, allegedly parked his car by the roadside before using his belt to hang himself from a nearby fence.
Eyewitnesses who discovered his lifeless body hanging raised an alarm, drawing the attention of residents and the authorities.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, told reporters:
“Yes, the incident occurred. One Andrew Chukwuka Nwosu from Itaja Obuohia Olokoro in Umuahia South LGA was found hanging on a fence along Olokoro-Umudike Road.”
She added that officers from the Ubakala Division visited the scene, and the body has been moved to Madonna Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
“There were no signs of violence on the body. Photographs were taken, and a preliminary investigation is underway,” DSP Chinaka stated.
The reason behind the suspected suicide remains unclear as investigations continue.
