The Lagos High Court in Ikeja has declared the removal of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly as unconstitutional, illegal, and void.
Delivering its judgment on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, Justice Yetunde Pinheiro, ruled that the removal of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly was unconstitutional, illegal, and void.
The court nullified all proceedings and resolutions from the January 13, 2025 session during which Obasa was ousted and Mojisola Meranda was installed as Speaker.
Obasa had filed a legal challenge against the State Assembly and Mojisola Meranda, who was named as the new Speaker, contesting the legitimacy of his removal.
