Nick Carter, a member of the popular boy band, Backstreet Boys, is facing a lawsuit from a woman named Laura Penly, who accuses the singer of multiple instances of sexual assault in the mid-2000s.

According to the lawsuit, Penly alleges she met Carter in 2004 at the age of 19, and they began a brief sexual relationship.

She claims that despite her insistence on protection, Carter refused to use a condom, assuring her that he was free of any sexually transmitted infections.

Penly further alleges that in early 2005, Carter assaulted her after she told him she did not want to engage in sex.

She says he forcefully threw her onto a bed and assaulted her while she repeatedly begged him to stop.

She also claims Carter warned her to remain silent, saying no one would believe her. Months later, he allegedly apologized and asked to meet again.

Penly says she later tested positive for multiple STDs, including HPV, which she believes led to a cervical cancer diagnosis.

She underwent surgery and treatment and is now suing Carter for sexual assault, as well as intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. She is seeking financial compensation for the damages.

Carter’s legal team has strongly denied the accusations, calling them “completely untrue.”

They argue the claims are part of a pattern of false allegations meant to tarnish Carter’s image.

His attorneys also say Carter does not recall ever meeting Penly or having any sexual relationship with her and point to her history of financial and legal issues, including bankruptcy and previous fraud-related lawsuits.
