Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has issued a firm warning that he cannot ensure the safety of individuals or groups entering the state without prior notification or approval.
This advisory, released on Monday, April 14, 2025, by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, emphasizes the need for visitors to obtain formal clearance before coming to the state.
In the statement titled “Notice Regarding Unscheduled Visit to Benue State,” Governor Alia noted that he is currently engaged in high-level meetings addressing critical state matters and is not expecting any official visitors.
He particularly cautioned against visits that could lead to political gatherings without prior approval, stating that such unapproved visits would be at the visitor’s own risk.
Furthermore, the governor specified that any individual or group intending to visit Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps within the state must first obtain written permission from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA).
This measure aims to maintain peace and order in the state, and security agencies, as well as the public, are urged to adhere to this directive.
