Authorities in New York are searching for a man accused of committing a disturbing act aboard an R train.
The suspect allegedly engaged in s*xual activity with the body of a deceased man before robbing him.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, April 8, around 8 p.m., when a man is believed to have died on the subway.
The cause and exact time of death remain unclear.
According to reports from The New York Times, several hours after the man’s death, another individual entered the train carriage and was seen performing a sexual act on the corpse.
Surveillance footage released by police shows a suspect wearing a yellow hoodie, black puffer jacket, and a blue Los Angeles Dodgers cap.
Investigators say the suspect boarded the train at a Manhattan station and, within 45 minutes, was seen rummaging through the victim’s pockets.
He allegedly then proceeded to sexually assault the body before exiting the train at Whitehall Street station.
Sources indicate that the deceased, who was homeless, likely died of natural causes. Authorities also believe the victim and the suspect did not know each other.
The man being sought has been identified by his brother, who told the New York Post that the suspect struggles with substance abuse and was released from prison just months ago. Despite the allegations, his brother expressed disbelief, insisting, “He’s not like that.”
Police are continuing their investigation and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
