Tragedy has struck the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Takoradi campus, Ghana, following the reported death of Davis Frimpong Manso, a third-year student of Logistics and Transport.
Davis was allegedly poisoned shortly after receiving a scholarship to further his education in the United Kingdom.
Disturbingly, sources claim he had his final meal with his roommate, who has since disappeared.
The circumstances surrounding his death have raised suspicion, with many speculating that his roommate may be involved in the incident.
A video circulating online shows the student lying on a hospital stretcher beside another cadaver, ready to be put in the morgue.
There is a pool of blood under the stretcher, ostensibly vomited before he passed on.
Davis was said to be the hope of his poor parents for a better life.
The grieving family, who reside in Pomposo, Obuasi, are reportedly unable to finance a formal police investigation and have been left heartbroken by the tragic loss.
His friends have been sending messages to media houses and human rights groups to help them probe the death of Davis and bring the culprit(s) to justice.
