The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, recently hosted a dinner in the United Kingdom for the suspended members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The gathering, which took place amid the ongoing suspension of the Assembly and increasing calls for a state of emergency in the state, was revealed through a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by his aide, Lere Olayinka.
Reports from multiple media outlets confirmed that the delegation to the UK was led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule.
In a statement released by the Speaker’s special assistant, it was stated that the purpose of the visit was to gain deeper understanding and fresh perspectives beyond the current political tensions in Nigeria, with the aim of enhancing legislative effectiveness.
