Ijoba Lande clarifies payment from Funke Akindele: ‘I received ₦190,000, not ₦90,000’

Nollywood actor and comedian Ganiyu Kehinde Morufu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande, has retracted his earlier statement regarding his compensation from actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele.
Initially, Lande claimed he was paid ₦90,000 for a month’s work on Akindele’s project.
However, he has now clarified that the actual amount was ₦190,000.
In a video message released on Friday, Lande prostrated to beg Akindele as he explained that his previous statement was the result of a poorly edited video.
Speaking in Yoruba, he pleaded with Akindele for forgiveness, emphasizing that it was never his intention to defame her.
“Funke Akindele gave me ₦190,000, not ₦90,000. Please help me beg Aunty Funke. The video was cut and joined, which led to the mistake. People only shared the part where I misspoke and not where I corrected myself. Please, forgive me. I don’t want to go to jail,” he implored.
Lande further explained that after he left the movie location, Akindele reached out to him to understand his reasons. Upon informing her about the payment, she expressed surprise and offered to adjust his compensation to a daily wage.
This clarification comes after significant backlash from the public following his initial claim.
Lande reiterated that he did not intend to tarnish Akindele’s reputation and expressed regret over the confusion caused by his earlier statement.
