The Delta State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of a site engineer, Chigozie Udalor, by his employees after they discovered he had a large sum of money in his account.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the case was reported on December 12, 2024, by Hyacinth Nnalue, who informed the Akwukwu-Igbo Police Division that his cousin, Chigozie Udalor, had been missing since December 10. Nnalue revealed that Chigozie was the site manager at his fish pond in Bod Camp, Akwukwu-Igbo community.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) initiated an investigation before transferring the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

Acting on directives from the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, a specialized team led by CSP Aliyu Shaba was assigned to handle the case using advanced investigative techniques.

On March 31, 2025, police operatives arrested David Tacho while he attempted to withdraw money from the victim’s account using his phone.

Another suspect, Daniel Orshio, was also apprehended for his involvement in the crime.

Investigations revealed that David Tacho’s brother, Victor Tacho, alongside Pius Daniel (both currently at large) and Daniel Orshio, conspired to kill Udalor.

After discovering the victim had funds in his Moniepoint account, they attacked him with a hammer, tied him up, and buried him in a shallow grave at the site.

Two suspects, David Tacho and Daniel Orshio, are in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, Victor Tacho and Pius Daniel.

The victim’s body has been exhumed and is awaiting autopsy as the investigation continues.
