Man kills mother, brother days after they celebrated his release from prison

A man whose release from prison was celebrated on Facebook by his mother has ended up k!lling the mother and his younger brother in the United States of America.

The tragic incident unfolded on Monday, March 31,  in Wilson, North Carolina.

Authorities identified the suspect as 25-year-old Da’ron Donta Jenkins, who now faces two counts of first-degree murder.

The Wilson Police Department responded to a call at around 5:30 p.m. on Snowden Drive, where they discovered the lifeless bodies of 50-year-old Dana Vanessa Jenkins and her 15-year-old son, Daryn Cox.

Just days before the horrific act, Dana had publicly celebrated her son’s release on Facebook, writing, “MY BABY HOME!! MY MF BABY!! MY BABY IS HOME!! LORD, I THANK YOU!!”

Dana had long expressed her love and support for Da’ron on social media.

In a past Facebook post, Da’ron spoke about feeling unloved, to which his mother reassured him of her unconditional love.

Following his arrest, Da’ron was taken to the Wilson County Jail and is being held without bond. He made his first court appearance on Tuesday, April 1.

The loss of Dana and Daryn has deeply impacted their local church and community. Bishop Sherman Blandon of Mount Moriah Community Church described them as “joyful, with infectious smiles that could light up any room.”

Daryn was a student at Beddingfield High School, where grief counselors were made available to support students and staff.

The church plans to dedicate a special youth service on Wednesday to honor the victims. “They loved each other, and they loved us,” Blandon said. “This loss is devastating for our entire community.”

Wilson Police are continuing their investigation into the tragic killings.
