CCTV captures face of man who kidnapped five-year-old girl in Lagos

Family calls for assistance to track him

The family of five-year-old Memunah Abdulrahman has called on the public for help to track down a man who kidnapped the little girl in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State.

Reports indicate that Memunah was taken on March 9, 2025, while she and her sister were on their way home from an Islamic school.

Sources revealed that upon reaching a well-known supermarket in the area, the suspect approached the girls and led them inside. While pretending to buy them items, the suspect vanished with Memunah, leaving her sister behind.

Following the report at the Ejigbo Divisional Police Headquarters, CCTV footage reviewed by authorities confirmed that the suspect abducted the child and fled in a tricycle.Memunah Abdulrahman

Speaking to the Punch on Tuesday, Memunah’s distraught mother, Mrs. Bashirah, appealed to security agencies and the public to assist in locating her daughter and the suspect.

“The incident occurred on March 9. My daughters were returning from their Islamic class when the man stopped them and led them to the supermarket. The footage showed that he initially tried to take both, but when my eldest daughter cried, he left with Memunah and disappeared,” she recounted.

Her father, Abdurrahman Alimi, expressed frustration over the lack of progress in the search, stating that the family had spent significant funds tracking the suspect but with no success.

“Despite CCTV evidence, the police have not made any headway. We need help from the public to identify the suspect and rescue our daughter. She is only five years old,” he pleaded.

A community secretary, simply identified as Ojagbami, also lamented the lack of progress in the investigation, despite efforts to provide evidence to the police.

“The suspect led the two children into Bokku Supermarket before abducting Memunah. We submitted the CCTV footage and followed due process, yet no substantial update has come from the authorities,” he stated.

When contacted, Lagos State Police Command spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin said he was not aware of the case but promised to look into it.

This abduction follows another reported incident on March 26, 2025, where suspected kidnappers seized a Lagos landlord’s daughter and another man in the Ijede community around 9 p.m.
