A group of youths in Gombe State hijacked and looted a trailer transporting cartons of food items branded with the name “Seyi Tinubu.”
The food supplies, reportedly intended as palliatives for distribution to locals observing Ramadan, were seized at the Old Bauchi Motor Park junction along the Gombe-Bauchi Road.
A viral video captured the scene, showing the stolen cartons containing essential food items such as rice, pasta, sugar, salt, and bottles of cooking oil.
The incident comes amid criticism from Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed, son of the Bauchi State Governor, who questioned the initiative.
He accused Seyi Tinubu of focusing on sustainable empowerment programs in the West while merely distributing food in the North.
In a social media post, Shamsuddeen wrote, “Please, when coming to Bauchi for the #RHYE, empower our youths with employment, Keke NAPEP, startup capital, ICT infrastructure, and crypto training.
“We, the youths of Bauchi, do not need rice and food in nylon bags during Ramadan. Teach our youths how to fish rather than feed them for just one day. They are not beggars.”
