Asake takes charge of ailing father’s treatment

Afrobeats sensation Asake has taken responsibility for his father, Fatai Odunsi’s medical care, putting him in a specialist hospital in Ikoyi, where Chinese medical experts are currently attending to him.

A reliable source confirmed this development to the Punch.

When the Punch reached out to one of Odunsi’s neighbours—who had previously led the publication’s correspondent to Asake’s childhood home in Iga Idunganran, Isale Eko—she affirmed that Odunsi was receiving treatment at the undisclosed medical facility.

Speaking in the local Isale Eko dialect, now translated into English, she said, “Call me back around 6:30 pm. By then, I should have been to their house and would have more details for you.”

Later in the evening, when contacted again, she confirmed, “I have spoken with his wife, and he has indeed been admitted to a specialist hospital in Ikoyi, where Chinese experts are attending to him.”

A member of Asake’s management, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the entire situation as an oversight.

The source confirmed that Asake has begun fulfilling his financial responsibilities towards his father and his daughter, Zeenat.

However, he was unsure whether the artist would resume his relationship with Zeenat’s mother or offer her any financial support.

“The whole issue was an oversight, but everything has now been resolved. He has reunited with his family and assured them of the necessary financial support. To the best of my knowledge, he has started keeping his promises, which is why things have calmed down. As for the baby mama, I have no information on that,” the source said.

Earlier, Odunsi had shared an update in a viral video, revealing that following their reconciliation, Asake pledged to buy him a new house and cover his medical expenses.

He also mentioned that real estate agents were actively searching for a suitable property.

Additionally, the singer committed to taking full responsibility for his 11-year-old daughter, Zeenat.
