Stan Alieke, a lawyer and former legal representative of singer Speed Darlington, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the NYSC member, Ushie Rita Uguamaye (Raye), who called President Tinubu a ‘Terrible President’ in a viral video.
Taking to his Instastories, Alieke argued that the corps member may have violated the NYSC’s employment policy by openly speaking against the government, which he described as her “employer.”
“Rules are rules,” he stated, explaining that as a recipient of stipends from the government, a corps member is restricted from publicly criticizing their employer.
Alieke advised the corps member to be cautious and not be swayed by social media support, noting that being dismissed from NYSC could limit her job prospects in Nigeria, as many employers require an NYSC certificate.
“For further clarification, she should read her NYSC handbook,” Alieke added, emphasizing the potential consequences of her actions.
