An explosion has rocked the Trans-Niger Pipeline at Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The incident, which reportedly occurred on the night of March 17, affected a key export pipeline responsible for transporting crude oil to the Bonny Terminal.

The resulting fire engulfed a section of the pipeline, though the exact cause of the explosion remains unknown.

Authorities are yet to confirm whether the incident was due to human interference, especially in light of recent threats by militant groups to target oil installations.

These threats followed the Federal Government’s decision to withhold Rivers State’s allocation amid the ongoing political crisis.

Investigations are underway to determine the cause and assess the extent of the damage.
