A man is trending after he was rescued from scrap metal men allegedly employed by his wife to k!ll him over his gratuity.
The incident happened on March 12, 2025 at Ajomo Araromi CDA in Oko Filling, in Ifo Local Government in Ogun State.
According to Emmanuel Omola, the CDA chairman, the man’s trouble started after he collected his gratuity from his former place of work.
He said his family turned against him in a bid to lay their hands on the money.
In a viral video, Emmanuel recounted how the man gave his wife ₦3 million, in addition to renting a shop for her.
He also reportedly bought a Lexus RX SUV worth ₦12 million for himself.
It is not clear what happened in the household that the man decided to sell the SUV.
The moment he sold it and collected the money, his wife and his four sons who are said to have graduated from the university, colluded to collect the money from the old man.
On the 12th of March, the wife reportedly went to the police station to accuse the husband of threatening her.
The police reportedly told her to bring a vehicle to facilitate their movement to arrest the husband.
The woman reportedly did not return to the police station. Instead, she was said to have hired scrap metal boys locally called ‘boola’ to overpower the man and k!ll him overnight after collecting his valuables.
The hired scavengers reportedly tied the man and went through the house removing anything of value into a waiting minibus hired by the man’s wife.
Inquisitive neighbours, who saw the scavengers loading valuables into the bus, reportedly moved close and questioned them.
When they were not satisfied, they reportedly raised alarm, calling other community residents who then burst into the man’s apartment only to find him tied.
A man identified as Baba Taye by the tied man, went ahead to untie him.
The old man can be heard telling Baba Taye:
“She asked them to k!ll me!”
