Former First Lady Michelle Obama has revealed one habit of her husband, Barack Obama, that has irritated her over the years—his lack of punctuality.
Speaking with her brother, Craig Robinson, on the premiere episode of their joint podcast IMO on Wednesday, Michelle, 61, admitted that Barack had to adjust to her definition of being “on time.”
“Barack, you know, he had to adjust to what on time was for me,” she said.
Robinson, 62, chimed in, joking that Barack operated on “island time,” referencing his Hawaiian upbringing and his relaxed approach to punctuality.
Michelle recalled moments when they were supposed to leave at a set time, only to find Barack still getting ready.
“I was like, ‘Dude, a 3 o’clock departure means you’ve done all that already,’” she said, adding that he would start looking for his glasses or heading to the bathroom when they were supposed to be out the door.
Despite this quirk, Michelle acknowledged that her husband has made improvements over the years.
“He’s improved over 30 years of marriage, but that was a ‘you must adjust,’” she noted.
She also praised their daughters, Malia, 26, and Sasha, 23, for adapting to her punctual nature.
“They’ve learned how to snap to it,” Michelle said, adding that when making plans with her, they always ensure they’re early.
