Rivers Judiciary dismisses claims of Chief Judge’s forced leave amid impeachment allegations

Fubara with CJ

The Rivers State Judiciary has refuted reports suggesting that Governor Siminalayi Fubara directed the Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi, to embark on annual leave to obstruct an alleged impeachment move against him.

In a statement on Wednesday, the judiciary described the claims as misleading and unfounded, urging the public to disregard them.

It clarified that the Chief Judge proceeded on leave based on due process and not under any external influence.

Reports had circulated alleging that Governor Fubara orchestrated Justice Amadi’s leave to prevent any judicial involvement in a purported impeachment plan against him.

However, the judiciary dismissed these allegations as baseless, emphasizing that the Chief Judge’s leave was a routine administrative procedure.

The statement further reaffirmed the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining its independence from political interference.
