Nigerian Army General detained for allegedly diverting rice palliatives, selling military equipment

A Nigerian Army officer, Brigadier General M.A. Sadiq of the 3 Brigade, Kano State, has been detained in a military police guardroom in Abuja.
He is accused of diverting rice palliatives meant for soldiers and selling military equipment, including generator sets and operational vehicles, to scrap dealers.
According to reports, the Nigerian Defence Headquarters provided the rice to military brigades across the country to support soldiers.
However, General Sadiq allegedly withheld the palliatives from his men in Kano State.
He is also accused of stealing a MIKANO heavy-duty generator from the Military Training Camp in Falgore, Kano, and selling other military assets.
As a result of these allegations, General Sadiq has been relieved of his duties and replaced by Brigadier General A.M. Tukur, the former registrar of the Nigerian Defence Academy.
