The police in Rivers State have arrested three men who took advantage of the #EndBadGovernance protest to allegedly steal Point of Sale machines and wipers of vehicles in the state.

This was announced by the commissioner of police in the state, Olatunji Disu, while answering questions from newsmen in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital on Wednesday.

Disu said he discovered during his assessment that some hoodlums had taken over the protest.

The commissioner said the organisers had lost control of the protesters, necessitating the involvement of the police as they could not sit by and let hoodlums have a free run.

He also said some hoodlums attempted to start a fire a few times, which his team immediately quenched.

The commissioner said the protesters even quarrelled among themselves and broke into three groups with one of the groups seen harassing traders and threatening them not to come out to sell their ware the following day.

Disu said he would not close his eyes to this and would take prompt action.
