A man, Mizanmil Abubakar, 29, has confessed to p0isoning and chopping up his father, Abubakar Adawa, 65, at Barkin-Sale area of Minna, Niger State.
The suspect thereafter buried his father’s remains in a shallow grave in their compound.
He was paraded by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, at the police headquarters, Dutsen-Kura, Minna on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
The commissioner announced that the suspect confessed that he served his father food laced with rat poison before using a hoe to cut him into pieces.
He claimed he took the action because his father had much hatred for him.
Police got wind of the case after the deceased was reported missing on the 30th of July, 2024 at 10 am.
The CP said the Kpakungu Division Police Officer (DPO) visited the house and invited Mizanmil Abubakar and the deceased’s wife, Aisha Abubakar, for interrogation.
The police also searched the compound and discovered a fresh grave where they found the severed body of the missing person.
Mizanmil then owned up to the crime.
He allegedly told the police that his mother went out and told him to prepare a meal for the family.
He used the opportunity to lace his father’s meal with rat p0ison which the father ingested and became unconscious.
He then used a knife and a hoe to cut the body into pieces, packed the pieces in sacks and buried them in a shallow grave within the compound.
He allegedly executed the act before his mother returned, and when asked why he did it, he said it was because the deceased hated him.
The commissioner said the suspect had been transferred to SCID for further investigation and would be charged to court once the investigation was concluded.”
