Man storms Ondo school during exam to strangulate pupil

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man, identified simply as Oke Loya, for allegedly killing a teenager, Timibra Meretighan, at the Arogbo community in the Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The 17-year-old pupil and his colleagues were writing an examination in a classroom at the Ijaw National High School, in the Arogbo area of the state last Monday when the suspect stormed the premises and chased the pupils out of the classroom.

A source told the Punch that the man caught the 17-year old boy and strangulated him. When  questioned, he said the boy called him a mad man.

“After the incident, the principal of the school quickly rushed to the police station to report the matter,” the source said.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, and announced that an investigation had commenced.

Odunlami said, “On Monday, the Principal of Ijaw National High School, came to the station and reported that one Oke Loya, 27, who took shed at the school security gate during the rain, strangulated one Meretighan Timibra, 17, of Arogbo Ibe. The suspect claimed the students called him a madman; he has been arrested and detained.”
