Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara State has signified his intention to arrest any politician sponsoring bandits to operate in the state.
Governor Matawalle said this when the Nigeria Governors’ Forum’s delegation led by Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State visited him over the release of 279 school girls in Zamfara State kidnapped last Friday.
The governor vowed that he would arrest any politician who entered the Zamfara to use thugs to breach the peace of the state.
He said he had drawn the battle line with the enemies of the state and would never allow them to operate again.
He said, “These power drunk politicians cannot stay in Abuja, Kaduna or anywhere in Nigeria and be instigating crisis and be sponsoring terrorism in the state, killing thousands of innocent citizens of the state for selfish interest.”
Governor Matawalle had similarly, during a visit of the Federal Government delegation, hinted that people would be surprised when the sponsors of banditry would be exposed.
He had also said at the time that many prominent personalities were behind banditry in the State and that their time would soon be up.
