One dead, two injured as security operatives clash with irate Jangebe youths

Zamfara State Gov. Bello Matawalle

There was chaos in Jangebe, Zamfara State on Wednesday when some youths in the town clashed with security men, leaving one dead and two injured.

Trouble reportedly started when the youths staged a protest as some Zamfara government officials came to the town to reunite the abducted schoolgirls with their parents.

Residents said the youths expressed their anger with the government and protested kidnappings and killings in the state.

Violence broke out when the youths were prevented from getting through to the government officials.

“The youths were very angry and wanted to show these to the officials so they can inform the governor,” one of the residents said.

“Things got out of hand when one of the security agents shot at the youths. One of the youths died, and two others sustained injury.”

Following the shooting, most of the youths ran away for safety.
